Since 1983 Max-Cast has focused primarily on sculpture casting. We have worked on statues, monuments and decorative items in both historical and modern styles. You name it, we can probably make it.

Max-Cast offers services of enlarging, pattern-making, rubber moldmaking, lost wax via ceramic shell, resin-bonded sand molds, welding, fabrication, chasing, finishing and patination. We cast sculpture in bronze, iron and aluminum. For more information on these processes, please take our foundry tour. Our talented team of foundry sculptors can bring your concept to life. We also offer aid and assistance on historic restorations.

Often times the original sculpture brought to us is a wood carving. Usually the artist wants a rubber mold made and lost wax castings via ceramic shell.

 Restoration of a 1900 GAR white bronze statue.
This zinc statue was erected as a memorial to Civil War Veterans on the grounds of the Court House in Forest City, Iowa. His rifle disappeared early on and a broom stick was substituted. The veterans of Winnebago County felt it was high time his piece...

 1914 White Bronze GAR statue Restoration.
The original zinc rifle had been stolen. Max-Cast fashioned a new rifle in bronze bolted it firmly in place and repainted the whole works. It is now back on its pedestal in Marion,Iowa.

 Potrait of a lady by Herman Deaton
Herman Deaton sculpted a beautiful portrait of his mother as she appeared in the 30's. This bronze lost wax casting stands about 15 inches tall and was done in 2005.

 Walden Baskerville, maquette for a large abstract bronze.
The original material for the maquette was core sand carved into this organic surrrealist form. A rubber mold was made from it to cast this bronze. We hope the full size one is coming soon.Another wax will be used as a pattern for the enlargement.

 Restoration of faux wood capitals for Schambaugh House, Iowa City
When this 1900's era house was moved, some of the decorative interior parts were damaged including these capitals between the entry way and parlor. Max-cast made molds of the original good parts, replicated, painted and installed them.

 Artist in residence, Clee Richeson
Clee Richeson, a Colorado artist, now living in Oregon, used Max-Cast's facilities to make sand molds and pour her pieces in cast iron. In mid-April 2005, she made six sand molds and poured her pieces using our 300 lb induction furnace.
